Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)
Director: Tom McLoughlin
Starring: Thom Mathews, Jennifer Cooke, David Kagen
Synopsis:
In a failed attempt to put Jason to rest once and for all, Tommy Jarvis accidentally triggers his resurrection and kicks of a new rampage of carnage.
Impressions:
The previous movie had enough goofy nonsense that made it not a total waste, but this film can't even muster that. All we get is a string of unimaginative kills until Jason is put on pause until the next one. If you think of this as "the Tommy Jarvis trilogy", this is a lame way to end it. This is the first film where Jason is explicitly supernatural, though you can argue that he was never plausibly an entirely natural creature even as early as II. Another mildly interesting new wrinkle is that we actually have young campers in jeopardy this time. That might add a bit of tension for you. There's nothing worthwhile here, even if you're just after the blood and guts. Pass on this.
