Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Director: Steve Miner
Starring: Amy Steel, John Fury, Adrienne King
Synopsis:
Five years after the incident at Camp Crystal Lake, a new camp is under development nearby amid rumors that a now fully grown Jason Voorhees stalks about in the woods seeking revenge.
Impressions:
I don't like it when sequels start out with a protracted flashback to the previous film, but that's what we get here. Anyway, this entry is where the franchise starts to take its more familiar shape. There's more meat on the plate, more fanservice, and a killer who's a fair bit more imposing than a middle-aged lady in a comfy sweater. I say that, but I honestly prefer dear ol' Mum to her boy. On that note, I do like the final girl's gambit in the finale. It's just enough to make me bump up my rating and call it worth a watch.
