Dreamscape (1984)
Director: Joseph Ruben
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer
Synopsis:
A psychic is recruited for a secret project that involves dream sharing, but there are those who would use the technology for sinister purposes.
Impressions:
If you like the idea of conspiracy thrillers with a supernatural twist, you'll probably like this. Dennis Quaid brings a lot of charm to the main character, David Patrick Kelly makes a good rival for him, and I also liked Max von Sydow and Kate Capshaw. Although the premise might make you think otherwise, it isn't that heavily effects-driven and there are actually relatively few scenes in the dream world, which gives them a little more impact. Think of it as something of a proto-Inception. I wouldn't call it a must-see, but I don't think you'll regret giving it a watch.
