Synopsis:
A fast-talking Detroit cop and a detective from Tokyo collide as industrial espionage meets murder over a prototype turbocharger.

Impressions:
When I saw the listing for a buddy cop movie crossing Jay Leno and Mr. Miyagi, I knew I had to see it. This is basically Rush Hour before Rush Hour was Rush Hour. A lot of the humor is ridiculously racist, which you'll either find hilariously bad or badly hilarious. There are a number of absurd moments that made me chuckle, but let's not make any bones about it. This isn't a particularly good movie, but I found it silly enough to be entertaining. The fact that it's something of an old shame for Leno adds to the humor if anything. Also, the fact that Prince Humperdink is the main villain is amusing.

On the meta level, it's interesting seeing movies about the Japanese from the 80s before the bubble burst. Also, seeing Detroit in the process of its decline compared to its current state like something out of The Last of Us also strikes a chord or two.
