The Wicker Man (1973)

Synopsis:
A British police sergeant travels to a remote Scottish island to investigate the disappearance of a young girl, only to find an uncooperative local populace with bizarre pagan practices.

Impressions:
Before this, I was only familiar with the infamous reputation of the remake and the highlight reel of Nic Cage at his Nic Cagiest. To this day, any incident involving bees will prompt me to bring up the "Not the bees!" clip on Youtube. If it wasn't for Christopher Lee being cast as Lord Summerisle, I probably would've passed over the original entirely. This movie is... awkward to say the least, but it's interesting and I think that interesting quality is enough to warrant a viewing. I particularly liked Lee's performance as Lord Summerisle. Edward Woodward also does a good job as Sergeant Howie. He's a divisive character and I think that's actually a good thing.

This movie is quite the trip, so if you think you're up to seeing Dracula in a dress, give this a shot.
