The Sting (1973)

The Sting (1973)

Director: George Roy Hill
Starring: Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Robert Shaw

Synopsis:
A small-time con man takes on a mob boss to avenge his partner's murder.

Impressions:
If you like stories about meticulously plotted criminal ventures like Ocean's Eleven, you'll really enjoy this. Paul Newman and Robert Redford work well together, something already established in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Robert Shaw is really cool as antagonist Doyle Lonnegan. I like how elaborate the big con is. A lot of work goes into it in-universe and out. Also, it's pretty cool to see James Earl Jones' father Robert Earl Jones on screen as Hooker's partner Luther. (I thought the voice sounded mighty similar and there's a reason why.) Definitely worth seeing. I highly recommend it.
