The Big Boss (1971)

Director: Lo Wei
Starring: Bruce Lee, Maria Yi, James Tien

Synopsis:
A man who has taken a vow of nonviolence goes to work at an ice factory that is a front for drug smuggling.

Impressions:
Bruce Lee's feature debut makes a big splash. This film makes an interesting subversion of your expectations by having Bruce Lee's character bound by a vow that prevents him from fighting and later starts to succumb to the temptations offered by the bad guys until turning things around for the third act. As you'd expect, there are some rather good fight scenes. I also liked the soundtrack, particularly the title theme. Bruce Lee fans and anyone else who enjoys martial arts action will want to give this a watch.
