The Making of Star Wars (1977)

The Making of Star Wars (1977)

Director: Robert Guenette
Starring: William Conrad, Anthony Daniels, George Lucas

Synopsis:
A look at the making of Star Wars hosted by C-3PO and R2-D2.

Impressions:
Released not long after the launch of Episode IV, this documentary uses a recap of the film to segue into different aspects of its creation. Using Threepio and Artoo as hosts is a nice gimmick. While not terribly in-depth, it has footage I haven't seen in any other documentary, so that should intrigue fans. Also, the writing for the narration by Richard Schickel isn't quite as laden with purple prose as some of the later documentaries. It's pretty good and certainly worth watching.
