Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964)
Director: Byron Haskin
Starring: Paul Mantee, Victor Lundin, Adam West
Synopsis:
An astronaut stranded on Mars must figure out how to survive on the barren planet and hopefully signal Earth for rescue.
Impressions:
If a title like Robinson Crusoe on Mars doesn't make you think schlockfest, I don't know what will. I feel it was a shame that the lead role wasn't filled by the more charismatic and interesting Adam West, but this was before he found fame as the Caped Crusader. Paul Mantee is okay, but I don't know if it's him or the character that's a bit abrasive. Don't expect anything close to resembling scientific accuracy (contrary to what the poster claims). It'll either drive you crazy or make you chuckle. All in all, this is a thoroughly mediocre yet harmless B movie. Take it or leave it.
