The Guns of Navarone (1961)
Director: J Lee Thompson
Starring: David Niven, Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn
Synopsis:
A team of special operatives infiltrate occupied Greece to take out a German gun emplacement that threatens the sea lanes.
Impressions:
This is a pretty solid covert mission movie. The trio of Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn and David Niven are strong, but the characterization of the rest of the team is a bit thinner. Some parts move a little slowly, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it drags anywhere. There are some twists and turns and a pretty good payoff. If you like this kind of movie, it's definitely worth a watch.
