Destination Gobi (1953)

Director: Robert Wise
Starring: Richard Widmark, Don Taylor, Max Showalter
Synopsis:
A US Navy weather station in Inner Mongolia forges an alliance with nomads against the Japanese.
Impressions:
The premise and Richard Widmark were enough to draw me to this film. I was hoping for actual Mongols in the cast and filming on location, but, alas, it was not to be. It's still fairly interesting. One thing that amused me was the Mongols' apparent tendency for backstabbery that belied a deeper game. Give it a watch.
