The Thin Man Goes Home (1944)
Director: Richard Thorpe
Starring: William Powell, Myrna Loy, Lucile Watson
Synopsis:
Nick visits his hometown—sober, much to his chagrin—he finds himself caught up in yet another murder case.
Impressions:
While my reception of the fourth film was rather tepid, I found this entry to be an improvement. In general, the humor is better and the case is more interesting. Also, getting to see Nick's family and hometown is an interesting development that nicely builds his character. I will admit that the resolution is a bit on the convoluted side, as per the series' norm, but I can't complain much. If you're a fan of the series, you'll definitely want to check this one out.
