The Seventh Victim (1943)

The Seventh Victim (1943)

Director: Mark Robson
Starring: Kim Hunter, Tom Conway, Jean Brooks

Synopsis:
A young woman travels to New York in search of her sister and discovers a Satanic cult involved in her disappearance.

Impressions:
I'm not a huge fan of the work of writer DeWitt Bodeen, but this story was worked over a fair bit from his original treatment, which may be part of the reason it comes off a little better than some of the other movies he's worked on. It's still not an amazing film, but there's a fair bit of suspense and menace and the idea of uncovering a secret Satanic cult is pretty cool. Tom Conway reprises his role of Dr. Judd from Cat People. which I guess puts this film in the same continuity. This is the film debut of Kim Hunter (Zira from Planet of the Apes), which may interest some people. I have no particularly strong feelings for the movie, so feel free to watch it or not.
