Double Indemnity (1944)

Director: Billy Wilder
Starring: Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, Edward G Robinson
Synopsis:
An insurance salesman falls for another man's wife and plots to kill her husband, but for all his planning, there is no such thing as a perfect crime.
Impressions:
I like how Fred MacMurray has played some really despicable characters on film in contrast to his squeaky clean image from My Three Sons. Other actors turned down the lead role because he's a bit of a scumbag, but MacMurray pulls it off brilliantly. It's very interesting watching the situation slowly unravel after the deed's done. Edward G Robinson deserves note as the dogged claims inspector who sticks to the case and eventually drives our villain protagonist into a corner. It's a fairly dark film and glorious for it. Definitely give this one a watch.
