Bulldog Drummond's Revenge (1937)
Director: Louis King
Starring: John Barrymore, John Howard, Louise Campbell
Synopsis:
Bulldog Drummond is on the trail of a stolen experimental explosive.
Impressions:
The plot for this entry in the series is decent enough with dangerous tech and peril on a train, but Phyllis' nagging wears really thin. (To be fair to her, I can understand why her patience has worn so thin, but she should either accept Drummond for who and what he is or drop him and marry a banker or something.) We get a double-whammy with Algy's even more annoying wife. Is it too much to ask for writers in the 30s to craft appealing female characters? They're in such short supply. Anyway, fans of the series will want to see this but there's not much to compel anyone outside that circle.
