Psycho-Pass: The Movie (2015)

Director: Katsuyuki Motohiro, Naoyoshi Shiotani
Starring: Kana Hanazawa, Tomokazu Seki, Kenji Nojima

Synopsis:
After a foreign terrorist cell is caught infiltrating Japan, Inspector Tsunemori travels to the Southeast Asian Union, where a trial version of the Sibyl System is being rolled out amid a civil war where Kougami is believed to be involved.

Impressions:
This takes place between the second and third seasons. Tsunemori finally gets her chance to catch up to Kougami. Moving the setting outside Japan gives us the opportunity to get a glimpse at the wider world and explore the application of the Sibyl System. There's a lot of Engrish to be had in the original audio. It generally makes sense in-universe as it's being used as a common language among non-native speakers, but some viewers might find it distracting. Production values are first-rate with a number of good action set pieces and a lot of focus on hand-to-hand combat like what would later be seen in the third season. I wouldn't say this is absolutely essential viewing in terms of following the main story, but I think most any fan of the series will want to give it a watch. (And in case you were worried, while Shimotsuki continues to be annoying, she doesn't have much screentime, so take comfort in that.)
