Maximum Risk (1996)

Maximum Risk (1996)

Director: Ringo Lam
Starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Natasha Henstridge, Jean-Hugues Anglade

Synopsis:
A French cop discovers he has a long-lost twin brother who was involved with the Russian mob and travels to New York to uncover the truth behind his murder.

Impressions:
You don't watch a JCVD movie for high art, but even as a popcorn-muncher, this one falls short. There are some decent action sequences, but nothing that hasn't been done better elsewhere. The story and characters aren't terribly interesting, so about the only thing that might pique some interest is fanservice provided by the two leads, but as with the action, it's been done better elsewhere. I can't think of any compelling reason to see this, so don't bother unless you're a completionist going through Van Damme's filmography.
