A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

Director: Renny Harlin
Starring: Lisa Wilcox, Danny Hassel, Tuesday Knight

Synopsis:
Struggling to adjust to normal life, Kristen rightly fears the return of Freddy Krueger, which gets both old friends and new caught up into the mix.

Impressions:
I have to admit that when I started this movie, I wasn't too impressed. Patricia Arquette hadn't returned as Kristen, the dream warriors basically get the Alien 3 treatment (spolier alert), and I simply wasn't all that impressed in general. However, having the new protagonist be a daydreamer, the whole dream master concept, and the way Freddy tailors his attacks to his victims were all fairly neat. The finale is pretty good, and that's what turned me around on this. It seems that reviews at the time were fairly positive, but I don't know if I rate it quite so highly. Still, if you're a fan of the franchise, there's more than enough to make this worth your time, enough for me to say give it a watch.
